Contest Rules for Participation in the Social Media Competition Related to the Cultivated Dog Treat Acceptance Survey

I. General Provisions

  1. These rules (hereinafter the “Rules”) govern the online competition (hereinafter the “Competition”) organized by the organizer (hereinafter the “Organizer”) in connection with the acceptance survey of cultivated dog treats supplied by the Organizer (hereinafter the “Survey”).

    Conditions of participation in the Survey are available here:

    The Rules are available throughout the duration of the Competition at https://www.benemeat.com/tryandshare and on social media (as defined below) and constitute the only binding document for consumers governing the Competition. The Rules may only be amended by written supplements published in the same manner as this document. Any excerpts or shortened versions of the Rules published in advertising or promotional materials are for information only and are not legally binding.

  2.  The Competition is not a lottery and does not require payment, purchase of goods, contract conclusion, or participation in advertising as a condition of entry into the Survey or the Competition.

  3.  Participation in the Competition is voluntary.

II. Organizer of the Competition

  1. The Competition is organized by Bene Meat Technologies a.s., Opuková č.ev. 1809, Olešovice, 251 68 Kamenice, Company ID: 08858209, VAT ID: CZ08858209, registered with the Municipal Court in Prague under File No. B 25065.

  2. The Competition is not created, managed, or sponsored by Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn.

III. Duration and Place of the Competition

  1. The Competition runs for the duration of the Survey, from September 20 to November
    30, 2025, on the Organizer’s social media channels at:
    a. Facebook
    b. Instagram
    c. LinkedIn and
    d. via the websites https://www.benemeat.com/tryandshare and
    https://www.benemeat.com/ (together the “Networks”).

  2. The Organizer may shorten or extend the Competition period. The Organizer also
    reserves the right to change the Rules or cancel the Competition entirely without giving
    reasons. Any changes will be published in writing on the Organizer’s Networks.

IV. Conditions of Participation

  1. Any natural person may participate in the Competition who:
    (a) is at least 18 years old,
    (b) resides in an EU country or the UK,
    (c) has participated in the Survey with their own dog,
    (d) has completed the Survey questionnaire(s),
    (e) has submitted/uploaded photos/videos as instructed,
    (f) is registered on Facebook, Instagram, or LinkedIn (hereinafter the “Participant”).
    The Organizer has the right to verify a Participant’s identity, including that of the winner, to evaluate compliance with these Rules.

  2. Participants must have an active, authentic, non-blocked profile on the relevant Network that complies with the Network’s terms, and must follow the Organizer’s profile for the entire Competition period until evaluation. Participation through multiple profiles on thesame Network is not permitted.

  3. Excluded from the Competition are persons employed by or otherwise connected with the Organizer or those involved in ensuring the Competition (technical administrators, agencies, etc.), as well as persons closely related to such individuals.

  4. Each Participant may submit any number of responses/reactions to the Competition task, but can only win once.

  5. Entries that are in conflict with the current rules and regulations of the Czech Republic and/or other currently valid norms, contrary to good morals, harmful to the Organizer’s interests, or otherwise inappropriate may be excluded. The Organizer alone decides on compliance and may exclude any Participant, including a winner.

V. Competition Mechanics and Prizes

  1. A Competition post will always be published on the Organizer’s Networks specifying the Competition task, duration, number and type of prizes. The Competition follows these general rules:

    a. By entering the Competition (e.g. by posting a comment, photo, hashtag, email, or other response), the Participant agrees to the Rules and undertakes to comply with them.

    b. Submitted entries cannot be altered. Any modification is treated as a new entry, which may lead to exclusion.

    c. One winner will be randomly selected by an automated system from among Participants who meet the conditions. The winner will be selected through an automated process.

    d. The prize is a visit for the winner and one guest (not another Participant) to the Organizer’s laboratory or production facilities in Prague, at a date set by the Organizer and at the Organizer’s expense. Covered costs include:

    i. travel from the winner’s residence,

    ii. one night’s accommodation (venue and travel provider chosen by the Organizer).

    These costs are covered for both the winner and their chosen guest. The winner is responsible for any liability or travel insurance.

  2. Prizes are non-transferable, non-cash, and cannot be exchanged for other compensation.

  3. Winners will be notified about the date of the visit via direct message or email.

  4. No legal claim to prizes exists.

VI. Announcement of Winners and Prize Delivery

  1. Winners will be contacted by the Organizer within 7 days of the Competition ending, via comment under the Competition post or private message, to obtain necessary details (name, email, address, etc.).

  2. If arrangements for prize delivery are not completed within 14 days of contact, or if the winner fails to collect the prize as instructed, the claim expires and the prize passes to the Organizer, who may allocate it to another Participant or otherwise dispose of it.

VII. Processing of Personal Data

  1. The Organizer is the controller of personal data. Contact details are available at https://www.benemeat.com/tryandshare.

  2. By participating, the Participant grants the Organizer explicit, voluntary consent to process personal data under these Rules and the data form.

  3. Purpose: conducting the Survey and Competition, organizing, evaluating, controlling, and awarding prizes.

  4. Legal basis: the Participant’s consent, given voluntarily. Consent may be withdrawn at any time, which ends participation in the Competition.

  5. Data is processed during the Competition, prize delivery, and for 6 months thereafter for control purposes. After that, only a limited scope is retained to fulfill legal obligations and for inspections.

  6. Participants expressly agree that the Organizer may (in accordance with § 77 and subsequent law No. 89/2012 Coll., of the Civil Code, as amended), use their first name, city of residence, likeness (alone or with their dog), and audio-visual recordings free of charge in media (including internet and social media) and promotional materials in connection with the Competition and its products/services, for up to 5 years after the
    Competition ends.

  7. If a Participant’s entry constitutes a copyrighted work, the Participant confirms authorship or rights ownership and grants the Organizer a free, unlimited license to use it.

VIII. Final Provisions

  1. The Organizer is not responsible for technical issues related to participation (including Network functionality), for defects in prizes, any damage caused by prizes, or for loss of prizes during transport.

  2. Participation cannot be enforced through courts.

  3. In all other respects, the Competition and relations between Participants and the Organizer are governed by Czech law.

These Rules take effect on September 20, 2025.

Personal Data Processing

What Data is Processed?

The Controller processes personal data necessary for the proper provision of offered services, in particular:

  • first name and surname,
  • likeness (photo, video),
  • e-mail address,
  • residential/registered address,
  • delivery address for samples,
  • IP address,
  • date and time of access to the user section,
  • browser information,
  • operating system information,
  • language settings,
  • behavior on the Controller’s website.

Purpose of Processing

The Controller processes personal data for the following purposes:

  1. Performance of a contract – provision of services (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR);
  2. Legitimate interest of the Controller – especially the exercise of rights and claims arising from the contractual relationship with you as the client (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR);
  3. Compliance with legal obligations imposed by applicable law (Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).

The Controller processes personal data in connection with the consumer’s participation in the acceptance survey of dog treats made from cultivated meat, organized by the Controller, and in connection with a competition the consumer may choose to enter.

Data Retention

Personal data are processed only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes of processing:

  • Contract performance: for the entire duration of the contractual relationship.
  • Legal obligations: for the period required by Czech or EU law, typically five (5) or ten (10) years.
  • Legitimate interest: for the duration of rights and obligations arising from the contractual relationship, including after the end of service provision, typically for a limitation period of three (3) years.

Who Processes the Data?

Personal data are processed by the Controller. They may also be disclosed to:

  • employees of the Controller,
  • cooperating persons (e.g. auditors, lawyers, tax advisors – all bound by confidentiality),
  • companies within the BTL Group.

Cloud Services

If you store information considered personal data within cloud services provided by the Controller, you will act as the data controller, and we will act as the processor. In such cases, we as the Processor undertake to:

  • process data only in compliance with GDPR and your instructions,
  • implement appropriate technical and organizational measures,
  • ensure confidentiality, prevent unauthorized access, and secure systems against cyberattacks,
  • notify you in writing within 24 hours of any actual or threatened data breach,
  • provide necessary cooperation in handling data subject requests,
  • enable reasonable audits or inspections,
  • not examine or actively review uploaded data beyond what is required for service provision.

A separate Data Processing Agreement under Art. 28 GDPR may be concluded if special protection is required.

Your Rights

As a data subject, you have the following rights:

  • Access to your personal data,
  • Rectification or completion of inaccurate or incomplete data,
  • Erasure (“right to be forgotten”),
  • Restriction of processing,
  • Data portability,
  • Objection to processing, including direct marketing,
  • Not to be subject to automated decision-making or profiling,
  • Lodge a complaint with the Czech Data Protection Authority (www.uoou.gov.cz) or seek judicial remedy.
